Academician Sirpa Jalkanen is Professor of Immunology at the Medical Faculty, University of Turku. She has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers and has more than 10 patents in the fields of inflammation and cancer. She is a member of EMBO and Academia Europae and has received several prizes/honors such as Datta Medal, Anders Jahre, Äyräpää, 2nd European Women Innovator and the Finnish Pharma Industry Prizes. She has also several positions of trust. She is a member/vice chair/chair of the boards in three big Finnish Foundations financing research. In addition, she has been a co-founder of two biotech companies.
