Air

Beijing is very well served by its Capital International Airport (Airport code: PEK). Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) has three terminals (T1, T2 and T3) in operation. Transport links to and from the city are equally well covered either by train (Airport Express) which connects with the metro system or by taxi. It is recommended to only use the taxis from the official airport taxi rank.

Train

Taking the train in China is an experience not to be missed. The city has four railway stations, with lines running to almost all provincial capitals, and to all China’s major cities.
Beijing Railway Station: The trains departing from Beijing Railway Station: Harbin, Shenyang, Dalian, Qingdao, Jinan, Shanghai, Nanjing Hangzhou and other cities as well as for Inner and Outer Mongolia departing from this station.
West Railway Station: The trains departing from Beijing West Railway Station: Xian, Chongqing, Chengdu, Lhasa, Urumqi, Guangzhou and Kowloon.
South Railway Station: The trains departing from Beijing South Railway Station: serving as the terminus for high-speed trains to the city – Tianjin, Jinan, Shanghai, Qingdao and other cities, which can reach speeds above 350 km/h.
North Railway Station: The trains departing from Beijing North Railway Station: offering regular intercity train services to the north and northwest, including the Huhhot-Manzhouli Grasslands Express (K274/K275/K277).

 

Taxi

Taxis in Beijing may be picked up at taxi stand or flagged down in the street. Always check that the meters are running. Taxis are usually be paid by cash.

 

Subway

The Beijing subway is modern, clean, efficient and very safe. A single adult fare from the CNCC venue (Olympic Sports Center Station) to the city center sites such as Tian’anmen Square costs 5 Yuan and takes 60 minutes. All the metro signage and announcements on the trains are clearly given in Chinese and English.

  • From Beijing South Railway Station to CNCC

City Bus

Taking bus is the cheapest means of transportation, which covers the whole city. Most of the buses are available between 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The starting fare of public buses is 2 yuan in the city and 4 yuan in the suburb areas.
