Dr. Xue-Zhong Yu graduated with Medical Doctor equivalent degree and then Master of Science degree in Immunology in Beijing Medical University. In 1994, Dr. Yu started his post-doctoral training at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle Washington. He was subsequently promoted as an Instructor and then Research Assistant Professor at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and University of Washington. To pursue an independent scientific career, Dr. Yu relocated to Tampa Florida in 2004, and established his own Lab at Moffitt Cancer Center where his career grew substantially to a full Professor. In early 2013, Dr. Yu was recruited to his current position as a Professor in Immunology and Hematology at Medical University of South Carolina. He also holds the Robert Stuart distinguished endowed chair in Stem Cell Biology and Therapy supported by the SmartState Economic Excellence Programs. Dr. Yu’s research focuses on the biology of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).
