Dr. Xiao-Kang Li is currently a Chief of the Laboratory of the Transplantation Immunology, National Research Institute for Child Health & Development in Japan; Professor of the Project Division for Healthcare Innovation, Graduate School of Human Health Sciences Tokyo Metropolitan University, Tokyo, Japan. His main research focus is in the area of immunobiology of regulatory T cells, dendritic cells during immune response to autoantigens and transplantation antigens utilization an integrated basic, clinical and translational approach. His efforts also have focused on understanding the basic processes that control T cell activation and tolerance. He proposed several new approaches for cell-based immunosuppression/tolerance induction protocols and gene therapy in transplant rejection.
