From 1991 to 1994, Mr. Wei He studied for his M.D. in Heidelberg University in Germany, Faculty of Theoretical Medicine under the supervision of Professor Dieter Kabelitz. There he worked on studying developmental mechanism of γδT cells, graduating with a M.D. in 1993. In 1994, he returned to China and joined in Department of Immunology, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) & School of Basic Medicine, Peking Union Medical College (PUMC). One year later, he obtained a full Professorship in CAMS & PUMC, and got on with His interest in human γδT cells. In recent years he has pioneered the structure-biological study in complementarity determining region 3 (CDR3) of human TCRγδ which is binding site for ligand or antigen of TCRγδ. As a result, his group discovered and identified several novel ligands for TCRγδ such as hMSH2, clarified binding mechanism of TCRγδ ligand and found that γδ T cells respond to endogenetic danger message via TCRγδ recognition of ectopically stress-induced antigen γδ. Besides, all these findings have been trying to translate into clinical field. Professor He is also a major leader in Chinese Society for Immunology (CSI) (2001-present for SG, 2010-present for VP).
