Dr. Leopoldo Santos-Argumedo is the Head and Senior Researcher at the Department of Molecular Biomedicine, Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (https://www.cinvestav.mx). He holds a Bachelor´s degree as (Microbiology) from the Biological Science National School (ENCB-IPN). (1980); Master of Science (1985) and Ph.D. (1989), both in Immunology from ENCB, IPN. He did postdoctoral studies at Department of Immunology of the National Institute for Medical Research, Mill Hill, London UK (1989-1991); and, at Department of Immunology of the DNAX Research Institute, Palo Alto Cal., USA (1991-1993). He has supervised 27 Ph.D. and 40 M.Sc. Thesis. He is the author of more than a hundred papers in JCR indexed journals that have more than 2500 citations. His Research interest deals with: The study of the mechanisms of activation, maturation, and differentiation of B lymphocytes in humans and mice. The search for the function of class I myosins in the immune response. The analysis of the molecular mechanisms in human primary immunodeficiencies. Moreover, the characterization of IgA and microbiome in human colostrum. He has served as President of the Mexican Society of Immunology (2002-2004), the Latin American Association of Immunology (2015-2018), and as a council member of IUIS.
