Hiroshi Ohno has obtained M.D. from School of Medicine, Chiba University in 1983. After clinical training in anesthesiology, he entered Graduate School of Medicine, Chiba University to study immunology, and completed his PhD in 1991. He did his postdoctoral studies in cell biology, especially membrane traffic, at NIH, USA, in 1994-1997. He was appointed as an associate professor of School of Medicine, Chiba University in 1997, and as a professor of Cancer Research Institute, Kanazawa University in 1999. In 2004, he move to RIKEN where he is still a team leader. He has been a visiting professor of Yokohama City University since 2005, and Chiba University since 2007. He also serve as the Project Leader of the Intestinal Microbiota Project at Kanagawa Institute of Industrial Science and Technology His research interest is host-gut microbiota interaction as well as intestinal immunology. He has published more than 150 original articles. He is now the president of the Japanese Society for Cell Biology, and a board member of the Japanese Society for Immunology.
