KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme
Kenya

Dr. Eunice Nduati is a research scientist based at the KEMRI Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP), Kilifi Kenya. She currently holds a Mid-Level-Career fellowship under the Wellcome Trust funded KWTRP/IDEAL Programme and has additional support from the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) to study various aspects of HIV immunology. Her primary focus is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the generation of antibodies with relevant functions. Specifically, to understand the B and T follicular helper (Tfh) cell interactions and how these may impact on the quality of the subsequent HIV-specific antibodies produced. In collaboration with IAVI, Dr. Nduati is part of a team establishing immunogenicity testing frameworks for HIV vaccine trials. This involves establishing and coordinating high-risk adult population cohorts and the relevant laboratory assays to determine both humoral and CD8 mediated functions against HIV. As part of our research capacity strengthening agenda, Dr. Nduati is involved in student supervision and mentorship.
